Software

Imaginality

The Terengganu Pilot will be mostly using the following Imaginality software:

  • Imaginality Play: Plays existing, Augmented Reality modules and links to Teacher Guides and Worksheets.
  • Imaginality Create: Enables you to Create your own Augmented Reality modules and share them with anyone online for free.

Imaginality Create also has the ability to work with SketchUp – free 3D modelling software that is easy to use and has access to over 200,000 free 3D models. To do this, the following software will also be used:

  • SketchUp: free 3D modelling software that is easy to use and has access to over 200,000 free 3D models.
  • Imaginality SketchUp Connector: This connects SketchUp to Imaginality so that you can preview SketchUp models in Augmented Reality and export them into Imaginality Create.

Installing and Uninstalling the Software

To make the installation process easier, we have provided an Imaginality Installation Guide and a  zip archive containing all of the installers and some tools to automate the process across multiple computers. We recommend you:

  1. Read the Imaginality Installation Guide
  2. Download the Imaginality Installation Tools (following the instructions in the guide above)
  3. NOTE: It is also highly recommended that you upgrade the 3D Graphics Drivers – see detailed instructions on this below.
Installation Troubleshooting:
  • If you get an error running “SketchupWizard.exe” because “the application failed to initialise properly (0xc0000135)” – your PC does not have a recent enough version of .NET installed (probably because you are not running Windows Automatic Updates). Download and run “NetFx20SP2_x86.exe” from here. Once that has finished, continue with the installation instructions.
  • If you have installed ok, but try to login and get Connection rejected by the server…could not establish trust relationship…”, or An error occurred downloading the module…Value cannot be null…” – this is caused by 1BestariNet blocking the connection to Imaginality servers. We are working to have 1BestariNet allow these connections. You can successfully login and download the modules on any other network (e.g. SchoolNet).
  • If you are trying to run a module and get an exception message that had details mentioning OpenGL – this means that your computer has old or limited 3D Graphics Drivers. This can be fixed by upgrading the 3D Graphics Drivers – use Device Manager to find the Graphics hardware, then find the latest drivers for that hardware. This has general help for upgrading drivers. Note: Microsoft Windows sometimes uses generic drivers that are often limited and cause these problems – it is best to use the drivers offered by the Hardware Manufacturer, e.g. NVIDIA, Intel or AMD (which includes ATI).
  • If you are trying to run a module and get a message box saying you need to upgrade Play to take advantage of module updates” – this is a result of Play downloading modules and then crashing (due to issues above) before it had a chance to save this new information. We are working to fix this, but the simplest solution is to do a Non-Admin-Uninstall, then a Non-Admin-Install, then login and download modules, then close Play (to save settings) and open Play again.

Support

Students

For students, the first point of contact for support should be other students or their teacher.

Teachers and Administrators

For teachers, the first point of contact for administrative support (installation of software and hardware etc) should be their technology administrator.

For teachers and administrators:

  1. The first point of contact for support with using the software should be the Troubleshooting section above.
  2. The second point of contact Imaginality Forums. To post to the Forums you need to Log in or Register.     Lost your password?
  3. If the troubleshooting and forums have not provided sufficient support, dedicated email support is available at terengganu@getimaginality.com (please also provide a phone number).

For both Forums and Email support, please provide the following information:

  1. Your School
  2. Which software program showed the error?
  3. What content was loaded in that software program?
  4. What caused the error? Please explain the steps that were taken before the error occurred, and any other steps taken.
If we can follow your steps to recreate the error, it is much easier to find a solution.
  5. Please describe the error. Write the error message, or copy and paste the error text if possible.
You can also take a screenshot of the error, using screencapture software, or by using the “Prt Sc” (Print Screen) button to copy the image to clipboard (you can then paste the image into software like Paint or Word).
