Imaginality Create help – interaction trigger – seconds invisible

by on July 2, 2013 at 5:21 am

Imaginality Create includes an Interaction Trigger called ‘Seconds Invisible’, which will trigger an Interaction Result after a model (the model selected in the ‘3D Models’ list) has been invisible for a certain length of time.
You can specify the number of seconds to wait – this defaults to 1 second.
You can choose between:

  • “Greater Than”, which will trigger a result constantly (i.e. every frame) that is greater than X seconds. For example, give the dragon “Seconds Invisible” of Greater Than 1 second with a Result of “Play Audio”, then it will continue to play audio. Note: Play Audio is the only Result that makes sense to continue doing to an invisible model.
  • “Exactly”, which will trigger a result only once (i.e. only one frame) at exactly X seconds. For example, give the dragon “Seconds Invisible” of Exactly 1 second with a Result of “Change Texture”, then it will change the texture only once, 1 second after the dragon becomes invisible. Note: only some Results (e.g. Change Texture, Transparency, Play Animation) makes sense to do even once to an invisible model.

Imaginality Create Example – Use Camera To Put Face On Ball

0
by on September 13, 2012 at 5:44 am

In this example, you use the Screen Cap feature to take a picture of you face, and then wrap that picture around a sphere, to make a virtual head. You then look at three different ways to do the wrapping, to produce different effects.
Other ideas: use the scale result to give the head more realistic proportions (Ideal Proportions); you could place your head onto or into other objects like an astronaut suit; you could make other objects like snow balls and fire balls, wooden crates, etc; find some other panoramas online to add to a panosphere; make the heads look at each other.

You can download the module to run it and modify it.

Imaginality Create Example – House Change Colour of Roof

Make a house change colour by simply touching it with different coloured blocks. Do this by exporting a house from SketchUp with separate parts for each item you want to colour (e.g. Roof, walls, etc). Create a set of coloured blocks, then for each block, create a rule so that when it gets close to the house part, it changes the texture of that house block.
Other ideas: what other appliances or vehicles etc could you recolour?; investigate insect camouflage by making them blend into the background; see the effects of making a character’s hair and skin colour change; use similar techniques to change hair styles.

You can download the module to run it and modify it.

Imaginality Create Example – Highlighter

Load a Human head with separate parts, and some household objects. When the objects touch the head, make the parts of the head that can sense them turn green.
Other ideas: make these interactions also play sound effects; do the same with flowers and insects that can pollinate those flowers; add information text to describe the function of each part; what other 3D models could benefit from this interaction?

You can download the module to run it and modify it.

Imaginality Create Activity – Become An Astronaut

Become an astronaut, planting your country’s flag on the surface of the moon! You will take a photo of your face, wrap that onto a virtual head and place that into an astronaut’s suit, then find a lunar flag online in the SketchUp 3D Warehouse, export that into Imaginality Create and change its texture to your country’s flag.

You can download the  module to run it and modify it.

You can download the activity sheet for instructions.

by on June 19, 2012 at 4:50 am

This video shows how to setup your 3D Models in the Imaginality Builder. This includes how to:

  • Place it on to one or many paddles,
  • Automatically scale and position it,
  • Add some information text and
  • Change the 3D Model’s 2D texture.

  • You can also download the module created in this video to run it and modify it.
You can also download the video as an mp4 file to view offline.
